Danish hairstylist shares trick to getting perfect waves with a flat iron

Welsh showed off a flat-iron trick to created beachy waves at the recent Front Row hair conference, creating quite the impression with other industry pros.

Her S waves, or "Scandi waves" are created by using a flat iron. As she demonstrates in her tutorial video, it involves taking a 1- to 2-inch section of hair and pushing it slightly upward so it forms an "S" shape. Then, tap the hair with a 1-inch flat iron to set it. Welsh does it in alternating directions up and down the hair shaft.

"The up-and-down technique gives you volume, but I wanted it flat," she told Refinery29. "I made it up because in Denmark we want this minimalistic beach look."

"I don't know if it's been done before — it must have — but the reaction from 90% of the people I show it to is: 'I've never seen that,'" she continued.

Potterheads leave touching tribute to Alan Rickman on Platform 9 and 3/4

What better way to remember the actor who played their beloved Snape than to pay tribute to him at a very special place for all Potterheads — Platform 9 and 3/4 at London’s King's Cross station.

Only hours after the news of Rickman's death broke, fans began leaving flowers at the trolley jammed in the wall.

Michelle Dobyne and How the Media Portrays Blacks

This video of Michelle Dobyne's interview after an apartment fire at the Casa Linda Apartments in Tulsa, Oklahoma has gone viral.

After watching the video and cringing, my first thought was, "Not again!" Where do they find these people to interview? Was Michelle Dobyne the only person available? Surely there must have been at least one other person NewsOn6 could have interviewed... right?! Someone that wasn't so "meme" worthy?

It seems that anytime there is an accident, house fire, natural disaster, et cetera and an African American is interviewed-the interview always ends up looking eerily similar to this one. Why is that? Why are African Americans made the butt of jokes in these news interviews? It's gotta be for ratings, right? Antoine Dodson, Courtney Barnes, Sweet Brown... the list goes on & on.

My husband of 25 years is Black, my kids are half Black, my in-laws are Black. I have never encountered anyone like Michelle Dobynes before, NOT TODAY or any other day! She does not represent the Black people I know. And I shouldn't have to say this, but I know people will see this interview & assume she does.

Ms. Dobynes might get her 15 minutes of fame as a result of this interview going viral. I just hope she realizes people aren't laughing with her, they're laughing at her. Big difference. They're also laughing at African Americans everywhere.

This blog post isn't going to change the world, I am well aware of that. I wrote it anyways. I wrote it because people, of all races & ethnicities, are tired of seeing Blacks portrayed like this on the news and elsewhere. We see it - we know what the media is doing.

The Backroad Anthem musician was found dead on Dec. 27 after his boat capsized on a duck-hunting trip in Oklahoma during winter storm Goliath. His wife, Helen Strickland, has been thanking fans and followers for their support on social media.

She also shared a touching video that her late husband had made for her, writing on Instagram, "On the day of our wedding Craig had me watch a video he had made to tell me how much he loved me. I am so thankful for technology in this moment because I will always have this. I watched this privately prior to walking down the aisle, and so now I want to share this small excerpt with all of you."

The video, which just shows Craig speaking to his wife through the camera, is incredibly touching.

Why Trigger Warnings Exist: Live-blogging a Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder Attack

Recently, trigger warnings have come under fire for coddling millennials - my generation. I want to explain, using my current triggered state of being, reasons why trigger warnings are integral for people like myself living with Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder.

First, to clarify something: PTSD can be caused by a number of things, from experiencing combat or a terrorist attack to accidents and medical events to repeated negative experiences that build up over time.

I want you to picture this: I'm currently sitting in my office rocking back and forth, breathing shallowly, and freezing in my warm office. My hands are frozen and it feels like they are not getting enough blood to warm them. I'm swallowing a lot, wincing, and shaking my legs back and forth.

I chose to read an article today discussing traumatic brain injuries in domestic abuse victims. It's a fascinating article and one that I needed to read... but I thought I was mentally in a place to handle the subject matter.

I was not.

Growing up in a home where I witnessed physical abuse along with being the victim of emotional abuse and neglect means that I occasionally - read: once a week at least - wind up triggered. The bulk of those triggering moments come from sexual abuse, sexual assault, and child abuse or neglect.

Sometimes this comes as a result of me pushing forward despite knowing subjects mentioned in pieces thanks to trigger warnings. Knowing that there are mentions or depictions of these subjects helps me to prepare, like sending a text to my husband that I need to be reminded that I'm safe or having something funny to watch as a distraction.

Other times, these attacks come without me being prepared. This can happen at work, at home, and while traveling. They can happen in the most precious and intimate of moments from a smell, a touch, a random memory or song lyric.

Regardless of knowing or not knowing, the attacks follow similar patterns:

First, I get the immediate physical symptoms like goosebumps, shallow breath, and that feeling of a hallway elongating like in a scary movie.

There should be, at least, a German word for that feeling.

My conscious brain moves, then, into fight, flight, or freeze mode. The mode I wind up in tends to be associated with where I am, if others are around, and other factors I haven't quite sorted out yet.

In fight mode, I become argumentative and combative. Growing up, this type of reaction would lead into screaming matches between myself and my abusers. These matches rarely accomplished anything other than showing that I was my own person.

I've always been a good fighter, partially because this tends to be my go-to mode.

Flight mode has me wanting to just leave - go anywhere. Sometimes I want to fly spontaneously to some hidden corner of the earth where I know people can't find me.

Emotional shut-downs usually accompany freeze mode. I just go numb and stay that way, sometimes for days. It's akin to one of those montages from some loved television show or movie showing a character in the same position throughout multiple situations throughout a period of time - same look on their face, etc.

There is so much that goes on physiologically with PTSD, including changes to your actual brain.

It's hard to put into words everything these attacks bring up. Sometimes I think about all the mistakes I've made recently and head in a downward spiral where I hear abusers tell me how awful I am, how I'll never amount to anything without them.

Other times one trigger brings with it memories of another awful experience and another until I just have to nap or work out strenuously or something else to change what it going on both in my brain and my body.

It just took me an hour to write this piece - something as simple as completing sentences and thinking coherent thoughts doesn't come easily during one of these attacks. As I wrote this, I paused to do other things as reactions to these triggers like make a fist with my right hand and shake it back and forth as though I'm a three-year-old emphatically waving at someone.

If someone has asked you to tag triggers on your website or social media, this is why - so they don't end up crying and freaking out physically and emotionally. Please listen.

5 Ridiculous ways Stefano DiMera died on Days of Our Lives

From 1983 through to 2012, this devious character has been presumed dead on 13 different occasions. Like a phoenix, Stefano always rises from the ashes.

Here are five of our favorite and most dramatic deaths.

1. Death by catwalk

In 1985, Stefano was shot by Dr. Marlena Evans after he pushed her husband, Detective Roman Brady, off a cliff.

After the villain kidnaps Marlena’s twins, Eric and Sami, she shoots Stefano, which causes him to fall from a catwalk high above an ice show. The building conveniently catches fire from one of his valuable prisms.

2. Cave collapse

DOOL waited six years to try and kill Stefano again. This time, Stefano is discovered in a Mayan pyramid in Mexico, where he’s peddling Mayan codices to John Black.

The two men get involved in a struggle as the cave collapses. The gun goes off, Stefano is shot and he falls into a fire.

3. Plane explosion and collapsing tunnel

1996 was a banner year for the mobster because he was thought to be dead — not once, but twice — in the same year. Stefano plots to kidnap Marlena and even though the police are on to his scheme, he manages to sneak aboard a plane to San Francisco disguised as Rachel Blake. He fakes a plane crash and everyone in Salem thinks it’s the end for Stefano and Marlena.

He instead whisks Marlena off into the caverns underneath the Parisian streets. A chase ensues as John rescues Marlena, an explosion in the tunnels occurs and Rachel shoots Stefano by a gas tank, which immediately explodes. Is Stefano alive?

4. Drained blood

With the Salem stalker at large in 2004, Marlena and the other supposedly dead victims come upon a burned corpse. Andre DiMera, masquerading as his cousin Tony, tells the group it’s Stefano.

Andre shares that he killed his supposed father by draining his blood to cure his blood disease — such a nice family!

5. Shot by a mysterious henchman

Stefano is dragged out in a body bag, but eight different people had their DNA on the gun. Who shot Stefano DiMera?

It was Ian McCallister, who soon revealed he didn’t kill Stefano, he was only holding him captive. Remember, you can’t keep a good villain down.

Simple Tips to Protect Your Wordpress Site for Beginners

I'm Wordpress convert. I made the big switch from my Blogspot blog to a self-hosted Wordpress site 4 months ago now based on reading many articles researching the advantages/disadvantages between Blogspot and Wordpress during my first two years of blogging.

I finally decided to make the move as I wanted to begin trying to monetize my blog to turn my blogging hobby into possible part-time income. One of my main concerns though with a Wordpress site was the security issues which kinda freaked me out. Of course, the security of your site is an issue for any site owner.

If you are thinking of beginning a Wordpress site, or if you are a Wordpress beginner like me, be sure to research and think about a security plugin to help you. I'm glad I did because last week I experienced my first brute force attack.

It was early Tuesday morning, really early for me, about 5am in the morning and my email notification on my phone started to ding more times in under a minute that I knew something wasn't right. I use my the alarm on my phone so its on my night stand and usually not a problem.

I checked my email and I was getting notification after notification from my security plugin Wordfence that an IP address had been locked out after trying to sign in using 'test' as the username. These IP addresses were literally from every corner of the globe.

I had to shut my phone off because it just wouldn't stop dinging. I realized this was a brute force attack to access my site through login username and password. So, what is a brute force attack? In its simplest form, it is an attack to gain access to your site.

Basically, they try using usernames and passwords over and over again until they are in. They are hoping that your username is 'admin' and your password is '123456'.

I sat pretty nervous for the first couple of hours after I woke up wondering if I had been hacked. I had installed the plugin Wordfence Plugin and hoped that it would work to stall the attack.

Some of the things I had done previous to the attack, and I hope these will help you as well if you are on Wordpress.

  1. When you set up your account, change your username right away from the default 'admin' username to something only you would know. Tips though are not to include variations of the name of your blog. Make it unique!
  2. Also change the password to your site and make it unique as well with a combination of words, small case and larger case, and numbers and symbols.
  3. Install a security plugin. There are many plugins for Wordpress sites. Take the time to research which one would be the best fit for your site.

Within your plugin there are some more changes you might want to make as well. Note I'm currently using Wordfence so the images are based on their plugin.

If using Wordfence go to the sidebar and click on Wordfence and click on Options.

In the basic section make sure to check off Enable Login Security as this will allow you to make individual options in other sections further down the page.

In the Alert section you can customize what kind of alerts you would like and how often. Just check the boxes you would like or uncheck them. I originally had '0' set in how many emails to receive per hour which is why at 5am in the morning my phone wouldn't stop dinging with the alerts during the brute force attack. Now I have set it to 10.

And if you have more than one administrator who might login in to the account you might want to uncheck that box so you don't get an alert every time an administrator logins in.

The next section to make some changes in is the Login Security Options. There are a number of areas that you can individualize such as after how many failures, how many forgotten password attempts, count how many failures over a time period, and amount of time the user is locked out.

Ever since the brute force attack, I have made my login failures smaller and I have locked them out for 2 days. I chose 2 days that way it would give me some time to investigate what was happening.

You can also set immediately locking out of invalid usernames such as 'admin', and I have now included 'test' as that was what common during the last attack. Also important is not revealing valid users in login errors, or preventing discovery of usernames through author scans.

Also prevent someone from registering 'admin' as a username if it doesn't currently exist. (See check boxes below)

Having these security items in place before the brute force attack can help you slow them down and hopefully give up. That is what happened this time with me. I don't know if this will be likely every time but having the security gives me a little bit of peace of mind.

The attack continued for about 3 hours with the first hour being the hardest hit with attempts. Each hour there were fewer and fewer tries, and then it stopped. Afterwards I used Wordfence to scan my site for potential hacks but everything came back good. I then went to my hosting site and everything was good there as well.

As I am new to Wordpress I frequently use the support topics found at Wordpress.Org to help me learn how to use the Wordpress platform and how to best protect it. Are you on the Wordpress platform? How do you protect your site?

Are you a filer or a piler?

It's an essential productivity question, perhaps even a existential one. Do you operate better with everything tucked away in its own tangible or virtual folder (neatly labeled, perhaps by a detailed taxonomy of your own creation)? Or do you like things in piles? You know roughly what's in the pile, but you'd rather scan through a pile quickly than try to remember where you've filed something?

Overwhelmed by Email? Declare #EmailBankruptcy and End the Madness

I'm a filer. Your jaw might drop if you saw the number of folders in my mail client. Similarly, I may have downloaded nearly 200 phone apps, but they're all neatly organized into folders on just two screens.

So, for me, my email inbox is actually my Inbox. A To-Do list. It's where I keep emails that I believe require my action or thoughtful response.

Some years ago, though, as my Inbox quantity creeped into the multiple hundreds, I realized I was feeling oppressed by that Inbox. Doing the math I knew that thoughtfully responding to hundreds of messages would take hours. Hours that I never seemed to have free.

And I realized something else: I was hanging on to a fantasy that as long as the email was in my Inbox, I hadn't missed the boat. I could still respond and be a "good" friend, colleague, etc.

But I had to get real with myself. No one is sitting around waiting for me to answer a four-month-old email. Not even me.

So, I decided to do something radical: I declared #EmailBankruptcy.

Here are the steps I took and that I continue to take on a regularly scheduled basis. Try it. You just may like it!

5 Steps to Getting to Inbox Zero By Declaring Email Bankruptcy

1. Scan those emails.

Even if you're a filer, act like a piler for a moment and scan those emails. Look at any sender or subject line that might be hiding something really critical ... a request for proposal, an invitation to speak, a query from a reporter. Anything that could mean money in the bank or *significant* exposure for your work.

Once you've declared email bankruptcy for the first time, try to keep this as a new habit. Scan new emails at least once a day. (I do it more often.)

Yes, you should take a few seconds to immediately Delete, File, Forward, or Reply if you can. If you can't, and you leave it in your Inbox, it represents a to-do. Try to minimize that.

But even if you leave it there, if you've touched it at least once, when it comes to declaring email bankruptcy again you'll feel certain there's nothing life-changing you'll be missing.

2. Create a folder for this bankruptcy.

I would never advocate just deleting all your emails. Instead I recommend you create a folder for the time period you're bankrupting. Perhaps you'll be calling it 2015 Email Bankruptcy. Or I file by quarters, e.g. Q415.

3. Move everything in your inbox into the folder you've created for that time period.

Kind of self-explanatory. Just move those emails over into the folder you've created for that purpose. The key thing about filing vs. deleting these emails is that you can always go back to them.

So, the emails will be included in your Search when someone references an old email you never answered. And in fact you might find yourself with idle time to kill ... on a plane without WIFI (Heaven forbid!) or a meeting that's gotten unbearably boring ... and it's not out of the question that you might tackle the previous quarter's bankrupted emails and answer a few.

I find that when I start with an abject apology and a check-in on whether I can still contribute, help, answer or weigh in, people are pretty shocked I replied at all, and totally forgiving. We're ALL overwhelmed by email.

4. Announce you've declared #EmailBankruptcy.

That's right. Just admit it. I tend to announce it Friends-only on Facebook and often announce it internally to work teams. I used to publish a post on my blog, even.

I say, "I've declared #EmailBankruptcy, so if you've been waiting for a reply from me on an email, I would greatly appreciate if you could re-send to bump it up into my Inbox again." (Don't worry, most situations have worked out and life has gone on without you, strangely enough, and you probably won't be inundated.)

5. Keep it up!

The hardest part is probably keeping up the discipline of scanning those emails to make sure you won't miss something life-changing, and keeping the #emailbankruptcy discipline up.

Don't do it once a year. Do it once a quarter. Once a month, even, if you have the stomach for it. You'll find that you get better and faster at email triage.

You get more motivated to unsubscribe from unnecessary emails and notifications, and you train people in your life to make their emails more actionable and more rare.

That's my recipe. I'm at Inbox: 13 here at the end of my work day. I'll make sure it's down in single digits by morning before I start all over again!

Brittany, his girlfriend, who I hope has some good friends who will let her crash on their couch, because there is no way this relationship is going to last until the end of the season, found out that Jax told Lala he would definitely be having sex with her soon, and decided to confront Jax about it. To the surprise of absolutely no one who has seen this show before, Jax denies it, even when Brittany calls Lala over.

It's super uncomfortable to watch Lala pleading with Jax to admit the truth and it just gets worse when Jax blames the whole thing on Lala being drunk. And of course he interviews that he "might" have said things that were inappropriate, but Brittany doesn't need to know about that.

Brittany and Lala, if you're reading this, please know that there is a litany of women who have been, as Katie put it last season when trying to warn Val about him, "Jax-ed." Getting Jax-ed is real. There are three previous seasons of women who have been Jax-ed. It is not a myth and it's ugly to watch Jax's behaviour succeed in turning Brittany and Lala against one another. And what's even more ridiculous than watching Jax lie his head off in this clip is the fact that he admits things in interviews, as if no one involved is ever going to watch the show. If anything is consistent on Vanderpump Rules, it is that the truth actually does have a way of coming out. (If I lived in Los Angeles, Brittany, I would totally let you sleep on my couch. We could also go get milkshakes.)

Growing Up I Never Had Play Dates, and I Turned Out Fine

The only play dates I’ve ever been on are the ones with my own children. In 2016 America (and the Internet), parental and educator rhetoric profess the vast academic and developmental benefits of play dates for our children. They all agree good social skills are essential to helping your child lead a happier, healthier life. But these skills need lots of practice and coaching.

My husband, a peanut butter-and-jelly-on-white bread, midwest-born American, raised on a steady diet of logos (out of a can), was shocked when I told him I never had play dates growing up. If his childhood was epitomized by carefully-planned play dates, what did this say about my deprived childhood? His look was so empathetic, I could tell he was imagining me living à la Harry Potter, locked away in a closet under the stairs.

Russian play dates took place at the same time for grown-ups as they did for children. They centered around evening family parties celebrating holidays or birthdays and everyone sat very tightly together, often at several tables that were pushed together, covered with decorative tablecloths, and we all ate the same food. Kids didn’t get chicken fingers in the shapes of dinosaurs with french fries; we ate pickled herring with onions and boiled potatoes with dill sprinkled on them.

Adults took turns thinking up toast after toast, all seemingly to our health and wealth, as we went round and round the table clinking our ornate, crystal shot classes, juice in ours, vodka in theirs, all yelling l’chain in unison. The almighty booze was the Grand Play Date Equalizer, where children and adults together have excuses to act like assholes.

While other kids made their quick escape under the table to go play, I lingered around the table, enjoying the praises for being a good girl. I often sat with my mouth agape, under a think haze of smoke, as if hypnotized by the adult conversation. I sat there, filing it all away -- the Russian phrases only grown-ups were allowed used, funny anecdotes littered with sexual innuendos, curse words that only identified themselves by hushes that followed.

Fellow children always seemed to grapple for words, which was always trying on my patience. My only problem with words came with filtering them. And maybe that’s because not much was filtered in front of me.

Playing with children also meant entering a world where I wasn’t always in control and preferred to stay grounded in reality -- even at age 5. My brain seemed inflexible enough to engage in other children’s trivial or ridiculous activities. The only real thing I remember playing with other kids was house, where I felt at home, comfortable that I was doing it right, confidently mimicking the behaviors of adults around me.

By the time we landed in America in March of 1979, after a three-month mandatory immigrant pit stop in Austria and Italy, my mother was 24 and my father was 29. These seasoned Soviet parents not only had to learn a new language, they had to figure out how to make money (which for immigrant meant lots of "courses"), find a place to live, and figure out how to go food shopping with so many freaking aisles and new cereal choices.

It always seemed like my parents were on an uphill climb, carrying satchels of collective struggle and guilt from generations before us. They never had a childhood, how would they know how to give it to me? The very concept of childhood was not only much more American, but a new one altogether. (In fact, the term play date was not officially coined until 1985.) The concept of a Soviet childhood simply meant you were too young to drink vodka.

My parents never shielded me from their hardships. I witnessed their trials and frustrations, a 5-year-old shadow in their perpetual sadness and disappointment, and while I didn’t feel sorry for myself, I certainly didn’t want to be another burden.

If they worried about money, I worried about money. When someone asked either of my parents, "How are you," there was no fake smile or exclamation of, "Great," like Americans do, just to be polite. No, my parents always said, "Still alive," as if the very notion that they actually made it through the day was accomplishment enough and what else can you possibly want from them?

Well, certainly not play dates.

Cheese may be the cure to cancer after all

According to a new study by the University of Michigan, nisin — something found in cheese like cheddar, Brie, and Camembert — reduced tumor size in mice. The study was published by the Journal of Applied Microbiology. It seems the preservative killed between 70 and 80 percent of cancer cells in nine weeks. Wow.

Now, I know we see studies like this (and their opposite) every day, but this one actually feels promising. Why? Because cheese. Duh.

Now, obviously, researchers are not suggesting we all go eat entire wheels of cheese three times a day. This isn't medicine and the study is still very preliminary. But what it does mean is that cheese, something many people on the trendy paleo diet shy away from, might actually be good for us. And maybe we could also take it as a lesson that cutting any food group, be it dairy or carbs, is actually not a great idea.

Every food has its purpose. I hate to say that to vegans and gluten-free bandwagoners (as in: Not people suffering from actual Celiac), but it's a fact. You want to be healthy? Eat a balanced diet. It's that simple.

Feud between RHOC's Tamra Judge and her ex's GF continues

But she isn't content in staying on the sidelines while Ienni coparents her children, either.

As Radar Online reports, Judge commented on Nik Richie's Instagram with some scathing notes about Ienni's parenting style.

She wrote, "My ex’s ‘girlfriend’ writes me notes on my daughter’s homework telling me what MY daughter needs to do. Like I’m a moron. I so bad want to say STFU and have your own kids. But I don’t… it’s called boundaries. It’s great to have an involved step parent. But know your boundaries….bitch (sic)."

Ienni is now defending herself, firing back, "The homework notes is something I occasionally have to do to relay information back to her. We don’t have a relationship where I could call or text her, I wish we did. Unfortunately we don’t have a healthy co-parenting relationship, mainly because of Tamra’s actions (sic)."

Ienni blames Tamra for the breakdown of the relationship, telling Radar, "Simon and I have tried many times to establish some kind of relationship with Tamra for the kids’ sake, with very little success... I'm really confused why Tamra has to continually talk about Simon and I in the public (social and regular media) when clearly we want nothing to do with being famous and/or included in her public life,” she said. “I’m sure she will even comment that these comments are in an attempt to get my 15 minutes of fame. When clearly my actions thus far have shown I don’t want 15 seconds."

No word yet on whether Zolciak plans to supply the bride with a wig from her own personal collection or just use her obvious hookups in the wig world to supply the wife-to-be with something custom and her very own. Either way, we're sure this is a wedding gift that woman won't soon forget.

Should parents hide their politics from the kids?

In 1989, I was 14 years old. George H. W. Bush was running against Mike Dukakis. We studied the election in civics class and read newspaper articles every morning. We held mock elections and discussed the various opinions and views of the differing political groups. Every night, I would come home and relay the facts from the day to my parents.

Yet never in any of those conversations over dinner did they ever give me an inclination of who they were voting for.

I never knew if my parents were Republicans or Democrats. I didn’t know their stances on abortion or immigration. Whenever I asked, they would simply share both sides of the issues and tell me that it was up to me to decide what I believe.

I never thought about their approach to politics and parenting; it was simply what I knew.

Then, many years later, I became a parent to two children. A very liberal-minded Democrat parent.

And suddenly I was faced with the reality that it was up to me to teach them how to keep an open mind. I could choose to share my beliefs on certain political issues and in essence shape theirs, but a very particular incident stopped me.

The two children of a family friend came and stayed with us. They were 9 and 12 years old at the time. Barack Obama had just been elected for his second term, and the children and I were discussing how exciting it would be to see inside the White House someday.

“Well, I’d never want to see it if Obama was in office,” the young boy who was 9 replied, his older sister nodding her head in agreement.

“Why is that?” I asked, confused.

“Because he’s a terrible president. The country needs a Republican leader.”

“Why?” I asked, looking back and forth between them.

He shrugged as she answered, “I don’t know. That’s what Mom and Dad always say.”

And it hit me. They had no idea what they believed. They were simply regurgitating the information their parents relayed. And would probably continue to do that until it just became part of their own repertoire. It's not just those children either. According to a Gallup Youth Survey in 2005, 7 in 10 teens (71 percent) confirm that their political views/ideas match their parents'.

As I looked at my own children after that incident, I knew I didn’t want that same thing in my style of parenting. Even if I wanted them to believe the same things I did, it had to be because they choose those views. Not because I forced it on them.

So I’m taking a page out of my parents’ book next year. I’m going to share both sides of the political election when issues come up. I’m going to try my best to not roll my eyes at Donald Trump’s comments about building a wall or high-five every fellow woman when Hillary Clinton wins the Democratic bid.

Instead, I’m going to lay out the facts and the differing opinions, and ask what they believe. At least I’m going to try.

With the recent debates on television, I used the opportunity to create a list of some of the issues raised. Considering my children are ages 7 and 4, I kept it broad. I told them some of the Republican candidates' ideas for immigration and education as well as some of the Democrats' ideas. My husband jumped on board as well, and together we laid out both sides.

What I realized was that it wasn't so important that they understand every issue inasmuch as they understood that we weren't telling them what to believe. That we were opening the door to them making their own deductions.

I can't stop extended members of my family from sharing their opinions over our weekly Sunday night family dinner. But what I can do is encourage my children to participate. To share what they learned and perhaps educate others as well as themselves.

And in the end, the only thing I can hope for is that their answers don't make me want to move us all to Canada. But I’m getting our passports ready just in case.

Lucy Hale suggests dramatic ending for PLL that would crush fans' hearts

While chatting with E! Online, Hale said, "I used to say, oh I want the girls to end up happy and live an A-free life, but I kind of want it to end really tragically." But now, Hale said, "I want people to be really upset, like they've lost something when the show ends, because I know that my favorite shows have ended that way, so a tragic ending. I'll just leave it at that."

What shows are you watching, Hale? Granted, sometimes tragedy is necessary and is the right end game. Take NBC's Parenthood. As sad as the series finale was, it was also perfect. So, I guess I get where the actress is coming from.

That said, I don't know if PLL fans can handle anymore tragedy, especially if that means one of the Liars dies. However, if one of the Liars was the new big bad, then I might be OK with that. Whatever the case, here's hoping PLL goes out on a high note, rather than a tragic one, like Hale wants.

Here are just a few reasons why I'm right.

1. The A reveal was already a letdown

Seeing as the A reveal did not fly with most fans, a tragic permanent ending would not be the best idea. I guess if it really pertained to the story, then maybe. However, if it's just for shock value, then absolutely not. Whatever the case, a devastating ending to a series fans have dedicated their time and lives to wouldn't be the right thing.

2. The Liars really need a happy ending

I mean, come on. Yes, they've had five A-free years, but that doesn't mean they're in the clear. As 6B has proven, Hanna, Aria, Spencer, Emily and Alison are in for another wild, tumultuous ride. Meaning, a happy ending is the way to go for the Liars.

3. Fans would not be happy

With so many fans hating the A unmasking, a tragic ending would make them even more upset. Can you imagine if PLL ended with one of the Liars dying, or worse, Caleb? Yeah, that probably wouldn't fly with viewers. If there was a horrible ending, well, creator I. Marlene King would definitely feel the wrath of every PLL fan.

4. Viewers shouldn't walk away upset

After spending so much time invested in a series and its characters, no fan should walk away upset. What was even the point of watching? Viewers should walk away feeling satisfied.

Khloé Kardashian exposes Caitlyn Jenner's big transition lie

Khloé Kardashian was the most obviously perturbed out of the Kardashian-Jenner kids when Jenner made her big announcement, but it wasn't for the reason Jenner put forth — that Kardashian felt abandoned by another man in her life.

No, the reason was a big one, and we really see Kardashian's point. She says Jenner flat-out lied to her and her sisters when they asked if the rumors in the tabloids about him becoming a woman were true.

"All these tabloids are coming out... we're like, 'We could ask the source. You're our dad, we'll ask you,'" she explained during an interview on Howard Stern's SiriusXM radio show, adding that Jenner always denied it.

And because he lied to them, they had to find out in a super-awkward way: in a production planning meeting.

"Something happened where we were at a meeting with E! for something and they mentioned that Bruce was having a TV show about transitioning or something. That's the first we heard of it," Kardashian said.

And even then, Jenner would not sit down and talk with them in private.

"When things started going, he would only want to talk to us on-camera... and I think it was also for security," she said, adding that she believes Jenner was afraid the family would attack him if the cameras weren't on.

"Maybe he felt like we couldn't get as upset or whatever. We felt so like, 'What the f***? We've been asking you and why do businesspeople know?'

"I never want someone to feel like they have one-up on our family. We are a family. We've never turned our backs on each other, yet with all the clusterf***s of shit that's happened in our lives, why would we now?"

Even after being confronted, Jenner still refused to be fully honest with the family.

"I don't give a f*** what you want to do — just stop lying to us about things," Kardashian said. "Also it's like, each sister had a different story because he couldn't keep up. Just lay it on the table, what are we doing? What's happening? Even then he didn't tell us... we didn't know when he was going to start fully dressing as Caitlyn."

Jenner went fully public with her transition in a Diane Sawyer interview last spring, and is currently filming Season 2 of her reality series I Am Cait.

Lisa Vanderpump just harshly put Farrah Abraham in her place

While the Teen Mom OG star has been busy fighting with Nicki Minaj on Twitter, Lisa Vanderpump has made some comments about Abraham that are pretty much guaranteed to lead to another celeb feud... not that that's anything new for Abraham.

It all started with this week's episode of Teen Mom OG, which showed Abraham making plans to crash a party at Vanderpump's place. Abraham claims she was initially invited to the bash, but was then uninvited because she's too "controversial."

"I might just go anyways. I'll probably just be the star at the party," Abraham said.

She added, "I'm just going to have to show them that they need to grow up. They shouldn't run white parties if they don't know how to be upscale and classy about it. So I would just rather show up and be there and then they can say how they feel and they probably won't because they're scared when I do show up and they don't say anything."

Vanderpump, however, denies having any involvement in allegedly uninviting Abraham.

"I've seen it," she said Thursday. "It's all over Twitter her saying that I uninvited her to the party. But let's be honest: A magazine [was] having a party [and] I have not a clue who's on the guest list."

Vanderpump continued, "It's not my party. It's Bella's [magazine] party. I don't think I knew one person there, apart from the ladies who came with me."

And then Vanderpump harshly revealed exactly what she thinks of Abraham: "I certainly wouldn't know her if she sat on me."

We're taking bets now on how long it'll be before Abraham responds.
